UAE marketing calendar 2027: every Gulf retail season, its date and when to start

Ten Gulf retail seasons for 2027 with approximate dates and official sources, plus a week-by-week prep plan and a checklist for UAE and KSA stores.

It is November, your Shopify dashboard in Dubai is quiet before White Friday, and someone on the team asks: when do we need the Ramadan stock ordered? Two weeks before? Six? A UAE marketing calendar answers that question once, for the whole year, instead of in a panic every season.

The tricky part is that Gulf seasons run on three different clocks. Some are fixed Gregorian dates, like UAE National Day and Saudi National Day. Some follow the Hijri calendar and are confirmed only by moon sighting, like Ramadan and both Eids. And some are imported from global retail, like White Friday and 11.11. Mix them up and you launch an Eid campaign before the stock lands.

This guide lays out the UAE marketing calendar for 2027, with the Saudi dates alongside for stores that sell into KSA: 10 seasons, approximate dates with official or astronomical sources, a comparison table, a week-by-week prep plan, common mistakes and a checklist. One rule before we start: every Hijri date here is an estimate and may shift by a day once the moon is sighted and the authorities announce it.

What is a UAE marketing calendar and why do Gulf stores need one?

A UAE marketing calendar is a one-page plan that puts every major buying season on a single timeline, then attaches three decisions to each: when prep starts, what you will sell or offer, and which ad channels carry it. It is not a social media posting schedule. It is a sales, stock and media plan in one place.

Why does a store in Dubai or Abu Dhabi need it more than most? Because demand in the Gulf bunches into a handful of short peaks, and in 2027 several of them collide. Saudi Founding Day falls inside Ramadan. Back to school lands less than four weeks before Saudi National Day. Then 11.11, White Friday and UAE National Day arrive within about three weeks of each other.

Without a written plan, the same things happen every year: ads start late and pay peak-season prices, stock runs out halfway through, and creative gets finished the night before launch, then stalls in ad review.

Marketing calendar vs content calendar

A content calendar answers “what do we post, and when?”. A marketing calendar answers the bigger question: when do we sell, what do we sell, and how much stock and budget do we need? Build the content calendar on top of the marketing calendar, never the other way round.

The UAE marketing calendar 2027 at a glance

This table is the core of the UAE marketing calendar 2027. Hijri dates come from the astronomical estimates published by the International Astronomical Center (IAC); fixed dates come from the government sources listed at the end. Check the official announcement before each season.

Ramadan 2027 date in the UAE: planning the biggest season

According to the IAC page for the Ramadan 1448 crescent (checked October 2026), the new moon falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, and the calculated start of Ramadan is Monday 8 February 2027. The IAC itself notes that countries may use different criteria, so the final date is announced locally after moon sighting.

For the UAE specifically, Gulf News, citing the Emirates Astronomical Society (October 2026), gives the same expected start of 8 February 2027, again subject to official confirmation. So the practical answer to “Ramadan 2027 date UAE” is: the second week of February. Ramadan is the anchor of the whole UAE marketing calendar, so build everything else around it.

What sells during Ramadan

  • Two to three weeks before: kitchen and hosting items, dates and coffee, tableware, Ramadan decor.
  • First half of the month: everyday products and lighter offers, with browsing shifting towards after iftar and late night.
  • Last ten nights: Eid outfits, perfume and oud, gifts and personal care. Eid shopping effectively starts here.

Ad timing in Ramadan

Browsing patterns change in Ramadan; many shoppers are online after iftar and late into the night. We will not quote a generic figure because it varies by store. The practical step: pull last year’s hour-of-day report in Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads, and weight your budget towards the hours that actually converted.

If you bid on conversions, confirm your pixel and events are firing before the season starts. Our conversion tracking guide walks through it. A full Ramadan playbook is coming as a separate guide in this series.

Saudi Founding Day falls inside Ramadan in 2027

Per Saudipedia’s official holidays page, a royal order dated 27 January 2022 made 22 February each year the day commemorating the founding of the Saudi state. In 2027 that is a Monday, roughly in the third week of Ramadan on the astronomical estimate.

If you ship to KSA from the UAE, treat this as one combined campaign rather than two competing ones:

  • Keep the creative Ramadan-led, with Founding Day touches, instead of running two clashing looks.
  • Pick products that work for both: hosting, coffee, oud, heritage-style gifts.
  • Keep the tone calm and respectful of the month.
  • Brief the creative in December 2026 alongside Ramadan, not in the first week of February.

Eid al-Fitr 2027 and Eid al-Adha 2027 UAE dates

Eid al-Fitr 1448

The IAC page for the Shawwal 1448 crescent puts the new moon on Monday 8 March 2027, with Shawwal starting on Tuesday 9 March or Wednesday 10 March depending on the zone and criterion. On your UAE marketing calendar, plan for both: prepare two versions of your “Eid Mubarak” messages and switch on the right one after the announcement.

The UAE’s official public holidays page on u.ae notes that Islamic holidays are set by moon sighting and that, if Ramadan lasts 30 days, day 30 is also an Eid al-Fitr holiday. That is one more reason to keep Eid dates on your UAE marketing calendar as a range, not a single day.

The real constraint is delivery. “Last order date for delivery before Eid” is the single most important line in your Eid campaign. Talk to your courier before Ramadan, learn their cut-offs and expected volume, then show the deadline clearly on site and in ads.

Eid al-Adha 1448

According to the IAC page for the Dhul Hijjah 1448 crescent, Dhul Hijjah is expected to begin on Friday 7 May 2027. Counting forward, Arafat Day (9 Dhul Hijjah) would be around Saturday 15 May and Eid al-Adha (10 Dhul Hijjah) around Sunday 16 May 2027, give or take a day after official sighting. u.ae lists the Eid al-Adha holiday as 10 to 12 Dhul Hijjah.

Eid al-Adha behaves differently from Eid al-Fitr. Demand for Eid clothing is usually lower, while barbecue and hosting items, travel products and family gifts matter more. It also sits close to the start of summer, so many families travel straight after.

Summer and back to school on the UAE retail calendar

Summer is the quietest stretch of the UAE marketing calendar, but it is not one season. Families who travel buy less locally; those who stay often shop online more because of the heat. Travel accessories, skincare, electronics and indoor kids’ products fit this window, alongside the city-wide shopping events that Dubai and Riyadh organisers announce each year.

Back to school 2027

Gulf News (February 2026) reported that the UAE Ministry of Education approved a multi-year school calendar in which the 2027-2028 academic year starts on 30 August 2027. In Saudi Arabia, Okaz (August 2025) reported that the approved calendar starts the 2027/2028 year on 29 August 2027. Calendars can be revised, so check the ministry sites before the season.

Back-to-school demand starts three to four weeks before the first day: bags, stationery, uniforms, shoes, tablets and laptops, lunch boxes. On the UAE marketing calendar, start ads in early August. Waiting for the last week means parents have already bought most of the list.

UAE National Day and Saudi National Day

UAE National Day, 2 December 2027

The u.ae public holidays page lists National Day on 2 December, with a two-day holiday on 2 and 3 December. In 2027, 2 December is a Thursday. It comes just days after White Friday, so the UAE marketing calendar needs a clean hand-off from a discount-led campaign to a celebratory national one.

“UAE National Day sale” is a real seasonal search, and big retailers compete hard for it. A smaller store wins with a clearer offer rather than a deeper discount: a product tied to the occasion, a gift with purchase, packaging in the national colours, or free delivery for a fixed window. Arabic and English creative side by side is standard in the UAE.

Saudi National Day, 23 September 2027

Per Saudipedia, Saudi National Day falls on 23 September each year and has been an official holiday since a 2004 royal order. In 2027 it is a Thursday, right before the weekend, which gives KSA offers a natural window of about three days. If you sell into Saudi Arabia, start prep in early August alongside back to school.

11.11 and White Friday: November on the UAE marketing calendar

November is the busiest month on the UAE marketing calendar. It opens with 11.11 (Thursday 11 November 2027), which has spread from Asian marketplaces to the big regional platforms, and builds to White Friday, the Gulf name for Black Friday.

Black Friday is the Friday after US Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday of November. In 2027 Thanksgiving is 25 November, so the Friday is 26 November. In the Gulf, platforms and stores usually stretch the offers across a week or more, and each sets its own dates, so watch their announcements.

The real question is not “how much should I discount?” but “can my margin carry it?”. Work out the return on ad spend you need to stay profitable before you set the discount. Our guide to ROAS and break-even ROAS and the ROAS calculator help with that. A dedicated White Friday guide is coming soon.

How to build your own UAE marketing calendar step by step

The table above is generic. Your own UAE marketing calendar needs tailoring. Do this once in November or December, then review it every quarter:

  1. Pull last year’s sales by week from Shopify, Salla or Zid and mark the weeks that actually spiked. Your strongest season may be back to school, not White Friday.
  2. Rank the seasons for your store: primary (big budget, stock ordered early), secondary (a simple offer) and skip.
  3. Work backwards from each date: stock may need 6 to 10 weeks depending on the supplier, creative two weeks, ad review a few days, audience warm-up two to three weeks. These are planning examples; adjust them to your suppliers.
  4. Choose the offer per season: discount, bundle, gift with purchase or free delivery. Do not repeat the same offer every time.
  5. Split the ad budget across primary seasons and keep a reserve for the season that outperforms.
  6. Prepare owned channels: build WhatsApp and email lists before the peak, because reaching them does not get more expensive in high season. See our WhatsApp marketing guide.
  7. Write Hijri dates as ranges on the UAE marketing calendar and set a reminder to check the official announcement a week before each season.

Worked example: a Dubai fragrance store (hypothetical)

Take a hypothetical oud and perfume store in Dubai that also ships to Riyadh. Primary seasons: the last ten nights of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, UAE National Day and White Friday. Secondary: Eid al-Adha, Saudi National Day and Founding Day for KSA orders. The store orders Ramadan stock in November and December, briefs Ramadan and Founding Day creative together, and keeps summer for light offers on travel sizes.

Notice how the UAE marketing calendar turns into purchase orders, shoot dates and budgets. That is the difference between a calendar on the wall and a calendar that runs the store.

Tools that help you run the UAE marketing calendar

Google Ads has seasonality adjustments, which tell Smart Bidding to expect a short-term change in conversion rate. Google’s help page (October 2026) says they work best for short events of roughly 1 to 7 days and may not work as well beyond 14 days. They suit the White Friday peak or the National Day weekend, not the whole of Ramadan.

  • Meta Ads Manager: ad scheduling by hour, and Advantage+ catalogue campaigns for big seasons.
  • TikTok and Snapchat: important for younger Gulf audiences in Ramadan and National Day. See our TikTok ads and Snapchat ads guides.
  • Google Sheets or Notion: enough to hold the calendar and assign tasks, as long as the whole team sees it.
  • Your store admin: Shopify, Salla and Zid let you schedule discounts and coupons in advance, so nobody has to switch them on manually at midnight.

Common UAE marketing calendar mistakes and how to fix them

  • Betting on one Hijri date: the campaign is built around one day and Eid moves. Fix: prepare two message versions and switch after the official announcement.
  • Starting ads in the week of the season: peak competition pushes up the cost of reach. Fix: warm audiences two to three weeks ahead with content and light offers.
  • Discounts the margin cannot carry: more orders, less profit. Fix: calculate break-even ROAS before choosing the discount.
  • Forgetting delivery: orders arriving after Eid become returns and bad reviews. Fix: publish a last-order date and confirm courier capacity.
  • A slow site at peak: more traffic, slower store. Fix: test speed before the season; see our website speed guide.
  • Ignoring abandoned carts: seasons multiply undecided visitors. Fix: switch on recovery flows before the peak, as in our abandoned cart recovery guide.

UAE vs Saudi marketing calendar: what changes

Religious seasons are shared, but the detail differs. On the UAE marketing calendar, and Dubai in particular, the audience is multinational, so ads usually run in Arabic and English, sometimes more languages. UAE National Day sits right after the November sales, and Dubai’s shopping festivals add peaks that KSA does not have. Prices are in AED.

The Saudi marketing calendar leans harder on national occasions (Founding Day and National Day), Saudi-dialect Arabic creative lands better, and cities like Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam each have their own delivery and demand rhythm. Prices are in SAR, so do not copy UAE pricing across without checking.

If you sell in both markets, keep two calendars that match on religious seasons and differ on national ones, and split campaigns by country so you can read each market’s results on its own.

UAE marketing calendar 2027 checklist

  • All 10 seasons are written down, with a two-day range for each Hijri date.
  • You have picked 3 or 4 primary seasons based on last year’s sales.
  • Ramadan and Eid stock is ordered before the end of December 2026.
  • Ramadan and Founding Day creative are briefed together (for KSA orders).
  • Courier cut-offs and the last order date for Eid are agreed.
  • Break-even ROAS is calculated for every offer before setting discounts.
  • Pixel and conversion tracking are checked before each season.
  • WhatsApp and email lists are built a month ahead.
  • A reminder is set to check official moon-sighting announcements before each Hijri season.
  • A short review is booked after each season to record what worked.

A UAE marketing calendar is not something you fill in once and forget; it is a tool you come back to every month. Start it now, in November 2026, because Ramadan 2027 is closer than it looks. UAE marketing calendar FAQ

What is on the UAE marketing calendar for 2027?

In date order: Ramadan (around 8 February), Eid al-Fitr (around 9 or 10 March), Eid al-Adha (around 16 May), summer, back to school (around 30 August), 11.11 (11 November), White Friday (around 26 November) and UAE National Day (2 December). Hijri dates are estimates until confirmed.

When is Ramadan 2027 in the UAE?

Astronomical calculations from the IAC put the start of Ramadan 1448 around Monday 8 February 2027. The official start is announced after moon sighting and may differ by a day.

What is the Eid al-Fitr 2027 UAE date?

Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027, depending on whether Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days. The final date depends on moon sighting.

When should I start preparing for each season?

A workable rule: stock about two months ahead, creative two to four weeks ahead, warm-up ads two to three weeks ahead. Ramadan needs the earliest start on the UAE marketing calendar, from mid-December.

What is the White Friday UAE date in 2027?

White Friday follows Black Friday, the day after US Thanksgiving, so Friday 26 November 2027. Gulf platforms usually run offers for several days around it, each on its own announced dates.

How is the Saudi marketing calendar different?

Religious and global retail seasons are the same. National occasions differ: KSA has Founding Day (22 February) and Saudi National Day (23 September), while the UAE has National Day on 2 December. Audience, language mix and currency also differ.

Does a small store really need a marketing calendar?

Yes. A UAE marketing calendar matters arguably more for a small store than a big one, because a small budget cannot absorb a wasted season. Focus on the 3 seasons you know work for you and execute them well.
